Why race-specific generators, not one big list
A single shared word list flattens exactly what makes fantasy races feel distinct. Elvish names lean on soft, flowing sounds — vowels doing most of the work, consonants like l, r, and th carrying the rest. Dwarves and orcs both favor short, hard syllables, but orcs push further into guttural clusters that would sound out of place from a dwarf. Humans sit in the middle, recognizable without being lifted from the real world.
Halflings are the one exception worth calling out: rather than force them into the dwarf sound (they share a “small folk” category in a lot of settings but not a phonetic one), the dwarf generator includes a halfling toggle built from gentle, compound English-style surnames instead.
